Finish Line by AmbroseButtercrust Finish Line by AmbroseButtercrust
For :iconmlp-atg-alumni: Week 48: Draw a triumphant pony.

Haven't done one of these in a while, just pencil & paper. Pose referenced from Muybridge's famous galloping horse.

Thanks, Fox-E! The ear was an attempt to have it pushed back by wind but not fully folded down. Oh well :D Good points on the neck and mane.

Ooh, I see how the ear is supposed to be now. Makes more sense when you know what to look for, I guess. =P

The use of a ref REALLY shows, in a good way. Totally awesome.

Only thing I'd really point out [aside from the obvious wonky ear] is that the neck is a little too long and thin.

Looking at the Muybridge horse gait you mentioned, you can see how the neck is sorta compressed / lowered around the frame you used, and if you also look at Swarm of the Century 11:20, you'll see ponies do the same thing. Pony neck's supposed to be a little longer than it is in that particular frame I think, but you get the idea. =)

Course, you could argue that she's sticking her neck out / sorta jumping / etc., just wanted to point that out though.

Also Berry's mane is supposed to waft behind her, but still.

Anyway, I could never remember the name of those horse refs, so thanks for pointing that out. =D
